BORDEAUX, FRANCE (17 Nov 2016)

This voyage begins in style with a welcome glass of beautiful pink champagne from Mansard, a family-owned champagne house in the heart of Epernay.

Champagne Mansard Rose Brut NV
Chateau Maison Neuve 2013 (Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux)

With your glass of bubbles in hand, sail along the Gironde Estuary in Southwest France, as we explore the famed wine region of Bordeaux! Hands down one of the most respected and referenced wine regions of the entire world, Bordeaux is situated in a unique geographical location where two rivers, the Dordogne and the Garonne, meet to form the Gironde Estuary which empties into the Atlantic ocean. These waterways broadly divide Bordeaux into three areas - the left bank, the right bank, and 'entre-deux-mers' - each with its own distinctive signature wine styles.

To give you a broad picture of Bordeaux wines, we will sample one signature-style red wine from each of the above sub-regions. Try them for yourself, and share with us which is your favourite!

Chateau de Seguin 2011 (Entre-Deux-Mers)
Chateau Patarabet 2010 (St Emilion, Right Bank)
Chateau Les Moines 2006 (Medoc, Left Bank)

The voyage ends on a sweet note with a botrytis-style Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc from the notable Sauternais region of. the Graves section in Bordeaux.

Sauternes - Label TBC

After this voyage, when you dine out and someone refers to a wine as being a 'Bordeaux blend' or made of 'Bordeaux varietals', you will now know exactly what they mean! If you would like to learn more about the rich history of French wine, and the many regions and styles it encompasses, we would be most glad to conduct a Private Group Tasting for you with a minimum attendance of 10 persons. Feel free to get in touch with our in-house Wine Specialist at daryl@riverboat.com.sg to explore further. Cheers!
